Chembu (Taro) Udachu Curry

Ingredients:

  • Chembu 5 to 7 small
  • Grated coconut 3/4 to 1 cup
  • Kudampuli 2 to 3 pieces
  • Turmeric pdr 1/4 tsp
  • Mustard seeds
  • Curry leaves
  • Shallots 3 to 4
  • Chilly 3 to 4
  • Dry chilly
  • Salt
  • Oil
Cut the taro into medium pieces. Cook it with salt, kudampuli, turmeric pdr and water. Then remove cooked taro and kudampuli from the water and keep it aside. Grind together coconut, little turmeric pdr, shallots and chilly. Add this into the taro and boil it. Then season it with mustard,  shallots, curry leaves and dry chilly.

  7. I never used to respect our naadan vegetables when i was back home...including chembu...and used to look at things like cauliflower in awe..but it was a huge misunderstanding...our naadan curries are the best and this one looks every bit of it.

  8. Wow i used to love this dish with chembu, buthave to admit last time i had these were in my teenage years, have not had them after getting married, when i go back home next time i must ask my mom to prepare this delicious dish.
