Ingredients:
- Frog legs 5 to 10 pieces
- Onion 1 big
- Tomato 1 big
- Garlic 1 Tbsp( chopped)
- Ginger 1 Tbsp(chopped)
- Chilly pdr 2 Tsp
- Pepper pdr 1/2 Tsp
- Lime juice 1/2 Tsp
- Turmeric Pdr 1/2 Tsp
- Garam masala 1/2 Tsp
- Mustard seed
- Salt
- Oil
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When it splutters add chopped onion, ginger and garlic. Saute well. When it turns brown, reduce the heat and add chilly pdr, turmeric pdr and garam masala. Roast it well and add chopped tomato. Mix well and add the frog legs. Cover and cook it in low heat. Do not add water.
Compared to other meats, it cooks fast. There is no distinguishing flavour for this and tastes similar to chicken.

Hey Tina, thanks for dropping by, you have a great space here!
ReplyDeleteFrog fry, wow girl!!!! I love frog, but never had the nerve to cook it myself! I remember the toddy shop frog legs from Kottayam, yum!
Tina, I have never had the guts to taste Frogs though many of my relatives used to compel me. Frogs remind me of green slimy creatures with popping eyes.. But now I guess, after seeing your post, I should try this some time..
ReplyDeletewhere did you purchase the frog legs?? is it available in here in the US?
ReplyDeleteOh god.... Pachathavala... It is my favourite ever. i just remember that gone days of rainy season, when all the paddy fields were filled with alarming Frogs... we used to get sack full of frogs good for a week! Now with increased pesticides, everything gone.
ReplyDeleteHi, Jim again... If you get frog again, try this out. It is the best. I never use frog leg for curry. Just marrinate with black pepper, little bit of turmeric and salt. after 30 minutes, fry it in homemade ghee. Wah, it will be so delicious. If you happen to catch young crows (just before it start flying or on the day it try to hit the sky), try the above style of frying. It is so delicious too.
ReplyDeleteHi Tina,
ReplyDeletejust discovering some of your recipes, yet to read them all :) ; your frog curry looks delicious; I love the Indian touch with all the masalas. I have tasted them in the restaurants ( chinese), then I found out that it has a very tender meat and so, the meat absorbs the spices very well and combining spices to it only makes it taste better; I also fry them like we do for the fish fries and it's absolutely perfect for the appetizers.
btw, you have a wonderful collection of recipes too and thanks for stepping into mine and for the sweet comment! keep up your good work lady! and I'm sure you've got the "Kaipunyam" :):)
