KFC Biscuit


Ingredients:
  • Flour 1 1/2 cup
  • Salt 1 1/2 Tsp
  • Sugar 1 Tbsp
  • Milk 2/3 cup
  • Baking pdr 1 Tbsp
  • Vegetable Shortening 1/3 cup
Preheat oven to 425 deg F. Sift together flour, salt, sugar and baking pdr. Make a well in the flour and add milk. Add shortening and knead it well. Add milk and mix it. Transfer it onto a floured board and gently knead 6 to 8 times. Roll out the dough into 1/2 inch thickness. Cut it with a round cutter and bake it for 10 to 13 mins.

Vanilla Cake - My First Blogging Anniversary........!!!

Ingredients:

  • Egg 2
  • Salt a pinch
  • Sugar 1 cup
  • Milk 2 Tbsp
  • Butter 1/2 cup
  • Flour 1 1/4 cup
  • Baking pdr 1 Tsp
  • Vanilla essence 2 Tsp
Preheat the oven to 350 deg F. Sieve flour, baking pdr and salt. In a bowl beat butter and sugar till it becomes creamy and fluffy. Slowly add egg and vanilla essence into the butter and beat well. Then add flour and milk alternately starting and ending with flour. Bake it for 30 to 35 mins.

Chilumbikka (Bilimbi) Chammanthi

Ingredients:

  • Salted bilimbi 5 to 6
  • Birds eye chilly 4 to 5(kanthari)
  • Shallots 2 to 3
  • Oil 2 to 3 Tsp
  • Salt as rqrd
Grind together all the ingredients. Add required amount of salt and coconut oil and mix well.

Parippu Charu

Ingredients:
  • Dhal 1 1/2 cup
  • Coconut 1/2 grated
  • Turmeric pdr 1/4 Tsp
  • Mustard seeds
  • Shallots 3 to 4
  • Curry leaves
  • Garlic 2 to 3
  • Chilly 3 to 4
  • Dry chilly
  • Salt
  • Oil
Soak the dhal for 1/2 hr. Clean and cook it with salt. Grind together coconut, turmeric pdr, shallots, garlic and chilly into a paste. Pour this into the cooked dhal. Allow it to boil in low heat. Remove it from fire and season it .

Pappad Thoran

Ingredients:
  • Fried pappads 8 to 10
  • Black gram 1 Tbsp
  • Grated coconut 1/2 cup
  • Turmeric pdr 1 pinch
  • Pepper pdr 1/4 Tsp
  • Mustard seeds
  • Chilly 2 
  • Onion 1
  • Salt
  • Oil
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and black gram. Add chopped onion and chilly. Saute it. Add grated coconut, pepper pdr, turmeric pdr and stir it till the water is absorbed. Add the fried pappads and mix well.

Chembu (Taro) Udachu Curry

Ingredients:

  • Chembu 5 to 7 small
  • Grated coconut 3/4 to 1 cup
  • Kudampuli 2 to 3 pieces
  • Turmeric pdr 1/4 tsp
  • Mustard seeds
  • Curry leaves
  • Shallots 3 to 4
  • Chilly 3 to 4
  • Dry chilly
  • Salt
  • Oil
Cut the taro into medium pieces. Cook it with salt, kudampuli, turmeric pdr and water. Then remove cooked taro and kudampuli from the water and keep it aside. Grind together coconut, little turmeric pdr, shallots and chilly. Add this into the taro and boil it. Then season it with mustard,  shallots, curry leaves and dry chilly.
